Like other denominations in the Reformed tradition the United Church of Canada celebrates two sacraments: baptism and communion.

 

Baptism: We happily celebrate baptism with people of any age, but most often parents bring their children forward for infant baptism. We encourage all parents to consider their commitment to this sacrament. It’s nice that family members expect your child to be baptized – but the real question you need to answer is whether you genuinely intend a Christian upbringing for your child. It’s a commitment to more than just a one-day photo-opportunity, so ask yourself if you can affirm that commitment if you aren’t part of a Christian community yourself. If you can do that in good conscience then we are pleased to celebrate the sacrament of baptism together.

Baptisms are usually celebrated the third week of a month. Please contact the office to set up a time to discuss this sacrament.

 

 

Communion: We celebrate at an open table, which means that anyone who wished to partake is welcome to do so. With parent’s permission children are encouraged to join with everyone else in our community.

Communion is celebrated many times each year, often on the fourth Sunday of a month, but also at Christmas, during Holy Week, and on Easter.
